Come on in!
A very warm welcome to the home of Scottish short film, 'Hogmanay'.
This project was born from a desire to support women in The Arts
and to give people opportunities in the film industry.
This project was born from a desire to support women in The Arts
and to give people opportunities in the film industry.
We are a team of Creatives with experience in Film, TV & Theatre.
We’re excited to be bringing ‘Hogmanay’ to the big screen!
It will be filmed in Glasgow in January 2025 and entered into international film festivals. Thereafter, it is going to be used by two wonderful charities as a stimulus for workshops.
The two main themes are: Scottish culture & heritage, and the effects of one person's alcoholism on three generations of women.
Learn more about 'Hogmanay' here, and please get in touch if you'd like to connect with us!
CREATIVE
We are aiming for this 13-minute film to be entered into international film festivals and to be shown on TV during the festive period.
It’s a timeless short film that can be screened year-on-year, as opposed to a one-off.
CHARITY
We have the support of two incredible charities: SFAD (Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs) and North West Recovery Communities. They intend to use our film as a stimulus for workshops about generational trauma, PTSD, cultural pressure to drink alcohol and complicated bereavements.
We recently held a read-through with people who have been impacted by some of the film's themes, and their feedback helped to shape the final draft of the script.
Some of the words they used to describe the script were:
'brilliant', 'incredible', 'emotional', 'funny' and 'powerful'.
Kirsty (she/her) is a Glasgow-based Director who has worked in front of and behind the camera over the last ten years. She found her love of directing comedy in 2018, when she wrote & directed sketches for the award-winning ‘FUNC’, a BBC Alba Gaelic sketch show.
In 2021, she was 2nd Unit Director on the comedy feature film ‘Man & Witch’ starring Christopher Lloyd & Sean Astin. Her responsibilities included filming several full scenes with the main cast, and VFX including plate shots, green screen, puppets & live animals!
In 2022, she wrote & directed her first comedy/drama short film: ‘Romance is Dead’. In 2023, Kirsty directed episodes of CBeebies' ‘Olga da Polga’ and CBBC’s teen comedy drama ‘Lagging’.
Laura (she/her) is a Writer and Actor from Glasgow. She trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before completing a Graduate Diploma in English at Strathclyde, and a PGCE in English & Drama at Cambridge University.
She worked as an English & Drama Teacher before focusing on bringing up her two children and helping to run a family dental practice - but she is delighted to be working in the Creative Arts once again!
She regularly records short videos & voiceovers for companies' websites and social media platforms, after learning the ropes as a Presenter on live TV show, 'STV Casino' and presenting Bank of Scotland's bi-monthly 'Network News'.
She is currently writing a play.
Michael (he/him) is a BAFTA-winning single & multi-camera Director, highly experienced in network sitcom and scripted comedy, drama, commercials and children’s TV. He also directs theatre, specialising in theatre for the arena, and directs the big screens for the 'Strictly Come Dancing' Arena Tour.
He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement BAFTA in 2019 for directing all 62 episodes of 'Still Game'. The award-winning comedy remains the most watched non-sports programme in Scotland over the last decade.
He recently completed his first feature film, 'Man and Witch', which was released in the US this summer.
Paul (he/him) trained at the SAE Institute, and has worked on a wide range of feature films, short films and TV shows. He has steadily moved up the ranks as a Production Assistant, First Assistant Director, Locations Manager, Production Manager, Writer and now Producer.
The projects he's been involved in range from
Marvel's 'Avengers: Infinity War', the zombie apocalypse film 'Redcon-1', 'Outlaw King', and 'Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw'.
In between these projects, he worked on two award-winning short films: 'Mia: A Rapture 2.0 Production' and 'Regrets', and two feature films: the sci-fi 'Flux', and the thriller 'Convergence', which won the Best Feature Film award at BIFF.
His most recent studio projects are 'Eurovision' starring Will Ferrell and 'Indiana Jones 5'.
Paul also worked on 'X Factor' (ITV) and 'Thronecast', and has been involved in filming commercials for companies like
Ladbrokes and Mango.
Heather (she/her) is a Dundee-based Actor and Writer who is passionate about exploring Scottish culture through performance. Following a varied career in PR & Marketing, both in the UK and abroad, she pursued her lifelong dream of working in Theatre, and graduated from Dundee & Angus College in 2019.
Heather starred in the CATS-nominated play ‘Sweet FA’ at EdFringe 2021/22, and her story ‘Twa Sisters’ was performed at Dundee Fringe in 2023.
Over the years, she has performed in pantos, classical plays, devised physical theatre pieces, short films & features, and is delighted to be involved in bringing ‘Hogmanay’ to the screen.
Greta (she/her) was born and raised in Glasgow. Following a lengthy audition process, she was recently offered a place on the Drama course at the prestigious RCS Junior Conservatoire.
As a passionate and ambitious young Creative, working on ‘Hogmanay’ as an Associate Producer has been a fantastic opportunity to experience every aspect of independent filmmaking.
This autumn, Greta assisted the Director of ‘Gone But Not Forgotten’ at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow.
She recently worked as a Supporting Artiste on ‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood’ and can’t wait for future work opportunities within the Film, TV and Theatre industries.
We really want to open doors and give opportunities to Creatives, young and old, who are trying to break into this notoriously difficult industry. Please contact us if you'd like to get involved.
Our first introduction is to Louisa Jeffers, a fabulous young Artist who we commissioned to paint something crucial to the film's plot: a clootie tree. She created this beautiful piece of art that will be printed on the Producers' t-shirts and will appear on our film's artwork. The original piece will be auctioned at our St Andrew's fundraising night in Glasgow, so please get in touch if you're interested in investing in a star of the future!
Some of the film's music has been created by a brilliant young Glaswegian Musician called Dylan Lyall. Dylan taught himself to play the guitar and wrote the song 'Take Me Home' which is now available to buy on Apple Music. You'll get to hear the song if you come along to our St Andrew's fundraising night in November. He's definitely one to watch!
